IMPORTANT! Please note the change of date for the Spring Egg Hunt. This year it will be held on Thursday, April 17th (instead of Friday).

Spring Egg Hunt

Weather permitting we will take the children outside and they will have the opportunity to participate in the egg hunt. If the weather does not cooperate the egg hunt will be held in the dining hall. The Easter Bunny MAY also make an appearance. We ask that each family contribute one dozen stuffed plastic eggs for each child attending from your family. Please remember we are peanut free so all candy must be peanut free and not processed in a plant with peanuts. Also in order for the candy to remain sanitary all candy must be wrapped. No lose jelly beans please. Please do not send in any choke able items as most of the children are under the age of three. Please drop off your eggs by the morning of the 17th in order for the bunny to have a chance t o hide them.

Thank you! We hope to see you there!

Toys From Home

Recently we have several incidents where a child has had a meltdown over a toy from home. Please help your child and his/her teachers by allowing them one soft stuffed toy (that doesn’t make sounds) from home to be used only at nap time. It will be put in their locker when they arrive and the teachers will make sure they have their comfort toy when it is time to rest. There are plenty of educational toys for your child to play with here during centers and free time.

The following is an excerpt from our Parent Handbook:

Toys from Home

The Niantic Community Church Children’s Center is not responsible for toys brought from home. Other than a stuffed animal or special blanket to use at rest time, please refrain from sending toys to the Center with your child. If a toy is brought to the Center in order to facilitate easing the child into the Center each day, please help the child put it into their cubby before leaving the child with the staff.

Thank you very much for your cooperation. This will help your child’s day go more smoothly
and prevent distractions during instructional time.

Staff Changes

As you probably know we have had some staffing changes in the last month or so. We try to avoid them at all cost, because they make for adjustments for the children, but some changes are inevitable.

Our new staff will be as follows:

Nikki Dalene will be transferring from Toddlers to Preschool. She is currently attending Eastern Connecticut University working on her bachelor’s in biochemistry. When she graduates she will go on to medical school to get a PHD in Pediatrics. In her free time she is an Accessories Stylist with Premier Designs Jewelry. She is married and has two dogs Dexter (a boxer) and Ninja (a longhaired dachshund). Nikki also teaches grades 1-4 for the Kid’s Church Class at Seaport Community Church.

Tiffany Hatfield will be working with Ethel in the Waddler Room. Tiffany lives in Groton and is currently getting a degree from Phoenix in Education.

Kristen Lamkins will be working with Qun in the Toddler Room. She recently moved to Niantic. She has lots of experience helping to raise her 5 brothers and sisters.

I hope you will join me in welcoming them to the NCCCC family!
