FESTIVAL OF LIGHTS

On Thursday, December 15th from 4:00—5:00 NCCCC will be hosting our Annual Festival of Lights. This is our Winter Holiday Party where the children learn about Christmas, Hanukah and Kwanza. We would love it if you would like to share your families favorite holiday tradition.

We are looking for a volunteer Santa again this year. We have the Santa Suit and just need the right man (woman or child) to fill it. Just contact Kathy if you are interested.

We will have games, crafts and lots of delicious food. Perhaps your Family Holiday Tradition is a favorite food that you would like to contribute. There will be a sign up sheet in the hall if you would like to bring a treat to share. It is always lots of fun. We hope you can make it.

Please remember to give documentation of your child’s flu vaccine to our nurse. They are due no later than

December 31st.

I am sorry to say your child will be excluded if they do not have a vaccine by that date as per State Licensing. Thank you!

TEACHER UPDATES

As many of you have probably noticed we have a new infant teacher: Brianna Rutherford has joined our team. Brianna is in the process of getting a degree in pediatric nursing.  She has lots of experience with children as she comes from a large family,

We have also hired Nicole Antilli as the teacher in the Infant Room. Nicole has an Associates degree in ECE and a Bachelors in Liberal Arts with a Minor in ECE.  She also has experience working in another childcare. Nicole lives in Oakdale with her daughter, Lucy, who will be attending in the Waddler Room, and her boyfriend.

Welcome to you both!!!

We are still in the process of hiring a 2:30—5:30 part timer and a substitute teacher. We are struggling to find qualified staff willing to work at the wage we can afford to pay.  If you know of anyone seeking a job who you think is nurturing and patient, please send them our way!

EXTRA CLOTHES

Just a gentle reminder, please send your child to childcare with weather appropriate play clothes and shoes. We do a lot of painting and playing in the sand box and we don’t want your child to worry about getting dirty or ruining their clothes while they are learning through play. It also works much better if the children wear sneakers or shoes that they can run and jump in without them coming off while playing or injuring their feet. Also, please check your child’s extra clothing bin to make sure their clothes are weather appropriate. Please also send in their snow clothes once the weather turns cold so they can still play outside. And don’t forget a hat and mittens. We do not have enough teachers to supervise children inside who have forgotten their weather appropriate clothes. Thank you!

INCLEMENT WEATHER

To insure the safety of parents, children and staff in hazardous driving conditions, the Center may delay opening, close early or remain closed all day. A decision to delay opening will be made and broadcast by 6:00 A.M. If it is necessary to remain closed all day, the decision will be made and broadcast by 7:00 A.M. In the event the center must close early, a decision will be made and broadcast by 12:00 noon, and all parents will be contacted by phone. Announcements will also be broadcast on the following television stations:

WFSB/CBS -3 or WVIT/NBC – 30 or WTNH/ABC

Center wide emails may be distributed to parents who have provided an email address.

TUITION INCREASE

I am very sorry to say, due to the increase in the minimum wage, NCCCC will be forced to raise tuition as of January 1, 2017. We are a small non-profit and are required to give all our staff raises in order to fairly meet the State of Connecticut requirements. This year we are fully enrolled, but last year at this time we were not and lost $20,000. Our payroll currently takes up about 90% of our tuition income and despite this the staff are sorely underpaid.  This leaves a very small amount for overhead and supplies. The staff earn so much more than we can afford to pay them. If you do a check on the web you will see this brings us up to the same rates as another local NAEYC accredited Center. Again, it is not our wish to raise the tuition but a requirement. We apologize for any inconvenience. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact Kathy.

The new rates are as follows:

    under 3 over 3
 FT   $220.00 $190.00
 3 days   $174.00 $144.00
 2 days   $116.00 $96.00
 1 day   $58.00 $48.00

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!
