OPEN HOUSE/POT LUCK

On Monday, September 19th from 5:30—7:30 PM we will be hosting our Annual Open House and Pot Luck Supper.

The Open House gives you the opportunity to meet your child’s teachers, see the curriculum and also sign up to volunteer to be a classroom parent.

The Pot Luck provides the opportunity to meet, support and socialize with other parents. There will be a sign up sheet on the bulletin board in the hall so you can sign up to share your family’s culture by bringing in their favorite dish. We hope you can join us!

SCHOOL PICTURE DAY

Wednesday, September 21st is School Picture Day. Lifetouch is coming this year and will begin photographing at 9:00 AM. Please sign the permission slip, even if you don’t plan to buy, so your child can appear in the classroom picture that shows all the children. This year’s package comes with a complimentary Smilesafe Kids Safety ID Card.

Please remember to give documentation of your child’s flu vaccine to our nurse. They are due no later than December 31st. I am sorry to say your child will be excluded if they do not have a vaccine by that date as per State Licensing.
Thank you!

FALL FUNDRAISERS

As you know NCCCC is a small non-profit center and we depend upon fundraisers to do big, high cost projects. This year we repaired the drainage and put down new sod on the Waddler Playground.

Our first Fundraiser will be the Midland Catalog fundraiser that will take place in September. It is a great way to Christmas shop. Then in October we will have the Lyman Orchard Pie Fundraiser. They will arrive in plenty of time for Thanksgiving. We have done this fundraiser for 3 years now and my family can attest to the fact that their pies are delicious!!! All profits will go directly towards playground improvements.

We thank you in advance for any purchases you make personally or items that you sell to family, neighbors or co-workers. Your sales help make your child’s day at childcare a more pleasant one. Thank you!

INVITATION TO PARENTS

NCCCC has an “Open Door Policy” This means you are welcome to visit anytime, contribute in classroom events or activities, read aloud to the children or share a project or family tradition. If you would like to participate in your child’s room please feel free to contact your child’s teacher. You were your child’s first teacher and their continuing education is a team effort. You are as welcome here as your child!

Another way you can participate at NCCCC is by serving as a classroom parent. the parents will help with Family Events and classroom activities.

GENTLE REMINDERS

Please remember to always sign your child in and out at drop off and pick up. It is how State Licensing makes sure we are maintaining child:teacher ratio. It helps the teachers keep track of who is there each day so they know they always have all their children with them at all times. We do head counts throughout the day. And they use the numbers from the sign in sheet.

Please label ALL your child’s belongings. Their lunch box, items in their lunch box, cup, clothing, bedding… EVERYTHING. This is very helpful when someone besides your child’s regular teacher has to step into the room, like another teacher or substitute. NCCCC is not responsible for lost or missing items.

UPDATE CHILD EMERGENCY FORMS

Please fill out and return the NCCCC Child Emergency form, available on page 5 of the downloadable version of this newsletter click the link below). State Licensing is asking that we update them on an annual basis. I am asking that they be returned by September 12th Thank you for your help.

COMMUNICATION

Please know that your opinion is very valuable to us at NCCCC. We greatly appreciate it when parents bring their concerns to us directly so we can address them. You are welcome to stop in the office anytime, call on the phone (860)739-0877 or email us Kathy Tiller (directorncccc@gmail.com) or Lisa Van Cura (lvan-cura12@hotmail.com). You are also welcome to call and speak with your child’s teachers at the above number. The best time to reach them is during nap time from 1-3 PM.

I am replacing the suggestion box in the hall (I just need a drill that will go through cement blocks) soon to enable you to make suggestion anonymously if that is preferred.

I can’t say this enough… we want to know the positive as well as the negative. We can’t address issues if we are not aware. Please feel free to come to us anytime with any concerns. Thank you.

EXTRA CLOTHES

Just a gentle reminder, please send your child to childcare with weather appropriate play clothes and shoes. We do a lot of painting and playing in the sand box and we don’t want your child to worry about getting dirty or ruining their clothes when they are learning through play. It also works much better if the children wear sneakers or shoes that they can run and jump in without them coming off while playing or injuring their feet. Also, please check your child’s extra clothing bin to make sure their clothes are weather appropriate. It will start to get cool again soon and they may need a light jacket or sweater in the morning in order to feel comfortable outside.

SCHOLASTIC BOOKS ORDERS

Please find attached to this newsletter the scholastic orders forms for the month of September. Each month You will receive these forms accompanying your newsletter. The due date will be the 15th of each month, Orders usually take less than a week to arrive. You can also order on line (Our School code is HL994).

Scholastic Books are a very convenient and inexpensive way to share reading with your child. I know my girls had lots of Scholastic Books in their bookcase and so does my grandson. They also earn points for the center so NCCCC can earn free books with your purchase.
